Security checkups
A home security checkup, from a burglar's point of view
Already have cameras or an alarm? We'll find out how well they'd actually work, and give you a clear, written list of what to fix first.
What we check
Outside the house
- How someone would approach unseen: paths, hedges, dark corners and side yards
- Outdoor lighting, doors, basement windows, the garage and any easy second-floor access
Your alarm
- How the panel calls for help, and whether that path still works
- A test of every door, window and motion sensor, run with you and your monitoring company
- Entry delay, keypad placement, codes and old users
- Who gets notified, and whether the call list is current
- Panel and sensor batteries
Your cameras
- Footage reviewed in daylight and after dark: could you identify a face or a plate?
- How long video is kept, and whether it survives a power or internet outage
- Passwords, updates and remote-access security
Your Wi-Fi
- Signal strength where your cameras and sensors are
- Default passwords, and whether cameras are separated from your computers
What you get
A written report in plain English, with every finding sorted into fix now, fix soon and nice to have. We'll also tell you what's already fine. You're under no obligation to do anything with it, and if you do, we can plan the fixes and oversee whoever does the work.
What it costs
The first conversation is free. The checkup itself has a set price that we quote up front, based on the size of the home and what's installed, before you book. There's no obligation and nothing to buy.
Good times for a checkup
- You just moved into a home with someone else's system
- Before you leave for the winter
- After a break-in or package theft in the neighborhood
- When an alarm monitoring contract is about to renew
See your home the way a burglar would.
Tell us about your system and we'll call you to set up a checkup.
